Devolved Nation awareness training in all schools across the UK

Purpose of campaign

This campaign would challenge the severe lack of knowledge, understanding and perhaps even tolerance of all four nations that make up the UK. It could be argued that, at present, most young people receive more education about the history of Germany than they do about the history of the devolved nations and England; this should not be the case.

We feel that such lack of understanding weakens our ability to collectively campaign to improve life for all young people across the UK. Educating young people in schools will create more cohesion and tolerance, and will enable our generation to work to our full potential in all future campaigns, and more generally in everyday life.

One of the best Ideas the Youth Parliament has seen in a long time. Would throw my weight behind it.

One concern is how to make it seem sexier when up against campaigns like child poverty (which, though very chic, is utterly pointless) or recycling (lols - yeah. Your old coke cans will save the planet form all the nuclear waste we're building up)

I usually detest everything the youth parliament does in its misrepresentation of young people. Yet, this idea would be a good way of instilling some nationalist Britishness vibe into the classroom. I am pleasently suprised.

dude - the point of this education is to make people realise that 'Britain' contains 3 (4) nations and that Britain is not a thing - it's merely a term for "Greater England".

The UK is a state made up of nations, not a nation state.

look up "The making of English National Identity" by Krishnan Humar.

There was a distinct British Identity up until the 50's, however the nations have had a cultural revolution since the 60's and have developed their own way.

Wee bit off but "history" is hte interpratation of the events of the past. So mybe they think there was a National Identidy under Thatcher? The identidy would obviously be of confuision inner turmoil and self mutilitation and distuction.

But what I think would be really good abotu the devolution awarenss would be to discuss this with people, to see if people see it as Britain or England and her servants.

Natrually devolution was a terrible mistake that continues to tear Britain apart after having been united since King James. Nevertheless, we should teach about the origins of the United Kingdom instead of focusing education on other nations as the proposal for a campaign suggests. We have alot to be proud of and students should be fully informed.

dude - you have UKIP in your name. The idea of a UKIP supporter believing people should be "fully informed" is laughable.

Evidence to this point - your use of the terms Britain and United Kingdom. Synonymns? I think not.
