Campaign proposal
To abolish university tuition fees Purpose of campaign University education comes at a high and very expensive price which many young people across the UK simply cannot afford due to the financial burden of tuition fees and living costs. In Scotland, Scottish students DO NOT have to pay the £3070 university fees per year that students pay across the rest of the UK, and so this campaign is calling for the Government to abolish tuition fees across the WHOLE of the UK, and not just in Scotland. I'm just coming up to working out funding for university and it's a nightmare. I reckon I've got just enough to get through the first year but by then my savings will probably be gone and i'll be living on debt... and in this recession, a part time job is probably out of the question.
And with the possibility of fees being raised, It's going to be very difficult. So it's no surprise that this campaign will get my vote!

I think that university tuition fees should be abolished.
Due to the amount of money people have to pay per year, people are being put off to carry on with education. Even I am put off going to university, I would like to go but if I do, I will be in a lot of debt in the future and I don't really want that to happen ![]() I think that the government should pay for people to go to university, they have enough money to pay. The government wants to sort out the economy and such but how can they if society is in debt? If people had more money, they could go out and spend it in shops etc to keep the economy going but its all going on tuition fees... |

What the previous two have said is right on the mark, but I still don't think that this government or any successive ones are going to remove tuition fees. This was a campaign last year and AFAIK it had very little success apart from raising awareness.
As much as they are a hugely unfair cost on knowledge, those in authority don't seem to give a damn.

Universities have to be paid for, and since the government only gets its money from the public, it will be the public who pay.
I consider it much fairer to pay for what we use, therefore I support lifting the cap.

Abolish University Tuition Fees is a great campaign. Students cannot afford all this expense for the education that we all deserve and have worked hard to acheive.

I would like Universities to be publicly funded...
But there again I also want the Universities to be good... The publicly funeded Unis on the continent are crap-I'm sorry but we should keep the fees and raise them if necessary. Those who can't pay can be subsidised its worth it when you consider the tax they'll pay and the social benefits of higher education.

Students don't pay fees when they're students. The only people who pay are adults who earn money.

We're learning about applying with UCAS atm, and as our tutor asked who would be interested in going to Uni, only about 15 out of 25 people put their hands up, and the main reason was because of cost.
im firmly of the opinion that tuition fees should be lowered, and hopefully abolished. but at the very least, the system should be changed so that Scottish students have to pay as well, as its especially unfair that they dont pay at all! |
