I think you may be getting confused with his other novel Animal Farm?

Hmmm... pigs are definitely important and superior in Animal Farm, hence my suggestion.

Ahem ahem what were you trying to imply Mr Hannan?
And yes I was talking about Animal Farm.

Are you trying to suggest something about my darling piggy wiggy?

Why you no good squealing bag of cow tippings!
If I could fly i'd be up in Scotland and strangling you!

That's funny... we havent had trains where I live since 1968

It might be only a two hour train ride to the borders - but you're forgetting that stretched flat scotland has a bigger land surface area than england. There's a lof of MAMBA to hide in

Is it just me or are people deviating from the topic a little? I enjoyed 1984 so much - what's scary is that the way our government is going with its lovely propaganda about the war and global warming, we could end up like 1984 too (though not on such an extreme scale). I use it many time in analogies when talking about politics especially when it comes to ours... I think you can see why! What I like about it is how the main character isn't completely 'good' and doesn't end 'happily ever after'; the psychological aspects of Orwell's novel are very interesting and help you understand the idea of corruption by power.

1984 has had a huge influence, and what's strange is that everything talked about in the book has happened at some form b y a dictatorship, Orwell has simly taken the next logical step to create a "perfect" authoritarian state. By far the best book is the 3rd one, the Miniluv (so aptly named) although Goldstein's book is very good too. In fact it makes up a very large percentage and some people, me included, theorise that 1984 was really a vessel for more of his controversial essays at the time.

The book is where a get some of my signatures.

"Freedom is the freedom to say 2+2=4" thought it was familiar.

I think 1984 is arguably the most amazing novel ever written. If we compare it to today's society that hides behind the Utilitarian defence... (instead we have terrorism and global warming as indicated.)

Again, the point with statistics too is apparent in govt. - nothing actually changes but politicians exchange a belly full of words to justify their own existence.

Has anyone seen the parody of 1984 called "Me and the big guy"?

I had to do a personal study on 1984 for my English class . One of the best books I have read yet.

There was the title, then someone mentioned a pig (there were pigs in 1984? I thought that was Animal Farm) then nothing...
