Just in case you didnt' know - you dont have to be married to have children! Also there is child benefit - the question here is 'Is marriage better for society?and if so should we incentivise it?'

People live in all types of situations with single people with kids, couples without them, one income, two incomes, people living with parents/siblings/friends etc to the extent that whether or not you are married does not have much statistical effect on your financial burdens.
In America they have a system of tax rates being applied to a married couple rather than individual people which makes some sense, however this is easy to exploit and some couples don't get married purely for tax reasons.
I personaly don't value marriage that highly

In a society where, mostly, not getting married is accepted what's the point.
But then again after forking out for a wedding you would be looking for some money back!
married or partners should have tax benifits as they have more people to look after they usually have families to provide for, where single people dont!
i think if you have children you should get taxed less! so you can provide for your family!

Isn't that what child benefits and child tax credits are for.
When the labour government withdrew the married persons allowance they replaced it with the tax credit which I think is much more sensible as we shouldn't be giving state benefits to rich people, it's just beurocratic nonsense
