what nationally is the girl that lives in england? i think that their rules just dont apply to them when they are in their own country?
Is the competition going to be exactly the same as other competitions? (Meaning judging women on the basis of their looks amongst other things) If you are referring to the Muslim religion, the reason women are told to cover up is because then it gives them the freedom to be judged by men by the content of their charector rather than their looks. So thats a bit ironic. But I am not sure whether the Pakistani government is a Muslim government, if it isn't then I guess it is a bit of culture clash rather than a religious one.
Edit: told as in the Qu'ran says "O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful." That kind of told. I have no idea whether they are willing or not, the Muslim girls I know are perfectly happy.
its one of the beauty competitions !! maybe i got the religions/cultures confuzzled! but im pretty sure there ment to cover up! i dont think she's a muslim but she's standig for pakistan i thought they frowned on competitions such as these maybe am wrong i may have the wrong end of the stick but ......nvm
i just thought there may be a reason why theres never bin a miss pakistan ...

The only thing Islamic about Pakistan is that it is officially known as an Islamic country. The religious ones are extremists, which in against the religion of Islam and the non religious ones are a bit too off religion. Therehardly any one who is actually properly religious. But then aain who am I to judged. It is just something which I have personally seen when I go round there.
Just to clear thingsup, hen you say they want thier women to cover up you speak as if the women dont want to cover up themselves and are forced to do so. Yes there are some cases but like 1% of the women who actually do cover up.
Watch the Pakistani national channels, you wont see anything Islamic about them

Yeah, its like some kind of talent contest right? Well, in Western world their answer to stop women being objectified was for women to dress as revealingly as they want so men will just have to get used to it, whereas in other parts the other strategy is to cover up their women so Pakistan would probs frown on it. is the miss pakistan taking place in britain?
and hahaha, thats the students mantra there :)

I'm a British born Muslim, but my ethnicity is Pakistani. I've not heard previously about there being a Miss Pakistan, but now that I have seen this discussion, I'm not too surprised.
Indeed the religion of Islam tells women to dress modestly. This is to protect their own dignity, and to guard themselves from the perverted eyes of society. As the vast majority of Pakistanis are Muslims, Pakistan itself then does have an "Islamic ethos" on which the principles of the country are founded.
If I may say so, I am a Muslim, or moderate muslim if you like. I say moderate because that's what my faith teaches me to be: "We have made you a moderate nation." (Holy Qur'an). The Prophet Muhammad is reported to have said, "Beware of extremism within the faith".
However, there are some who go way past moderation and are too "liberal", if I can put it like that. They may be those who advocate and support the idea of Miss Pakistan. Somebody else alluded to this previously. I don't think Pakistan needs a Miss Pakistan, infact I don't think any country needs a Miss ... .
Why do women need to be dressed in bikinis for their beauty of be judged. As it has already been said, it's what in the heart that counts.
Pakistani people are becoming increasingly liberal about this kind of stuff.

I'm a religious Pakistani and I certainly don't class myself as an extremist. I don't know which part of Pakistan you're going around in...
Admittedly, its becoming less religious than it used to be - which some may describe as a good thing and others may describe is bad. Personally I think its the reason why so many people are now easily influenced into thinking on the more extreme side of things, because they aren't so sure of what their faith really teaches any more.
