View Full Version : Anti paeophile rallies...
Saw this on the news (video at bottom);

There were some demonstrations held in Dorset where everyone walks around chanting "paedos out...paedos out"....
I can see their hearts are in the right place, but where are the paedos meant to go? have they really thought this one through?

And what about forgiveness and actually genuinely helping people with problems? And what about seeing that being a sex offender doesn't necessarily mean you've done anything more than urinate in public...
At least the paedophiles now know that they're disliked, whereas before they thought they were the townsfolks favourite people.
I think that pedophiles have now been persecuted to the point that there is an increasing risk of a backlash in their favour.
The enforcement of the anti-sodomy laws in the UK almost ceased in the Inter-War years, when in the 1950s they were enforced with a vengeance people turned against them. Could the same happen with pedophiles?
Obviously there is a massive difference morally between homosexuality and pedophilia but in some ways the comparison between homosexuality 60 years ago and pedophilia today works. Worrying.

What is this?
And before everyone yells homophobe! at me, I could rephrase that as "what is the difference morally between heterosexuality, homosexuality and pedophilia"

Depends how old the minor is and whether they rape them or not.
"what is the difference morally between heterosexuality, homosexuality and pedophilia"
Informed consent?

Informed consent?
Who says paedophilia can't have informed consent?
Who says a paedophile even performs sexual acts that require consent? If a painting of child porn which was never based on a real child is distributed this is illegal, this has nothing to do with consent.
I'm not entirely sure that it is illegal, anyway I highly doubt that anyone would try and display a picture of an adult raping a child publicly, so the issue is academic. I certainly don't know of any case. As far as I know manga porn isn't illegal, as the average age of the younger partner in the ones I've seen looks about 14-16 then if it featured human actors it would be illegal, so as I've said I'm not sure if that point stands.
If a pedophilic relationship is based upon informed consent then there wouldn't be a complaint, therefore no one else would have to get involved.

But what if the minor is a baby, or someone who can't find back or doesn't know/understand what's happening to them?
It's not about age, it's about sexual predators preying on the vulnerable - it happens to the very old and people in comas too.

Hence informed consent.

I was aware of the Australian case. Probably should have said within the UK's jurisdiction. I wasn't aware that "manga porn" come under the definition of 'extreme pornography', I'm opposed to the law against extreme pornography.

I think it was "drawings and computer-generated images of child abuse" rather than "extreme pornography" ... http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/may/31/justice.ukcrime
