The Majority have it, so I don't see the point for an Over 25s section...
It lets me to point out to you the correct spelling of 'remnants'..? No, ixnay on the spelling azinay...
The 25+ section was created when I asked why I couldn't post on the boards, even though I registered some time earlier. Theoretically, it can provide a place for 'crumblies', as one of my old teachers described his generation, to explain their actions and attitudes, and to face questioning from Youth Parliament members. That it hasn't been such a place so far is partly my fault, for not putting into action my intent to encourage some public bods to get down with the kids, but it's also down to any member of the youth parliament who knows someone over 25 who they think should be making a contribution, to get that person involved with the forums. I'm thinking particularly of the 'handlers' who probably supervise much of the UKYP activities, like the upcoming 'conference' in the House of Commons. I might be wrong, and everyone involved with UKYP is under 25, and has to find another occupation when a circle on their wrist starts flashing, but if I'm not wrong, don't you ever want them in the spotlight, explaining to the parliament why a popular cause isn't being acted upon, or a local UKYP website is a bit rubbish?
At worst, the 25+ section could be a place where members' parents embarrass them with tales of childhood quirks, but that seems unlikely. So why not encourage your, er, cooler teachers and youth workers, and even councillors, to get involved? I have a feeling that the people that I have in mind to badger would hesitate to jump in without someone else 'priming the pump', anyway, if at all.
But if you really can see no possible future value in this sub-forum, then fine. Blow it back to God...
Heh, 'finding my voice'. Can't help feeling that's the kind of cheesy line dreamt up by an adult, but I can't change my tagline, like I can't choose an avatar. Nertz.

No one can change their tagline, except Austin of course!
Ah, right. Does that mean that another 9 posts after this one, I'll turn into a beautiful butterfly (no, Lord Bellingcroft has 52)? What are the stages between where I am and 'Put me in the House of Commons'? Looking at p.2, I guess 'Regular contributor' is next...

See http://ukypforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=135
also...
It's the number of posts you've made. 30 is finding your voice. 100 is regular contributor. 250 is Super Poster. 500 is Mass Debator. 750 is Screaming from the Rooftops. 1000 is Soapbox Screamer. 2000 is Local Celebrity. 3000 is Should be on Question Time. 5000 is Put Me in the House of Commons. And maybe 10 000 will be "I'm getting a State Funeral"
10,000 is actually "Prime Minister in Waiting"
Wait, 'Mass Debator' is a serious rank that someone in charge chose? And does Captain Pugwash really have a crewmember called 'Seaman Staines', as well?

1 to 15.
Wow.....
1 to 15.
Wow.....
I didn't vote at all, which rather alters the significance of your results (or maybe my memory's just not what it was). Just as a very small portion of the whole membership voted 'No', you really have no idea how representative your '1' is. Yes, I guess I am the only one who will admit to being over 25 here, but how many would admit that they snipped a few years off on the registration form, when to do so would mean automatic suspension of their voting rights?
In any case, why is it such a big deal? You didn't respond to my reply to you. Are you on a high horse about public 'adult' involvement? Thesite.org is specifically aimed at young people, but it doesn't impose age restrictions on it's message boards. That seems to work out for them. A separate 'reservation' (it could be called 'Jurassic Park'?) where the membership at least have the option of debating with oldies of varying influence who can be persuaded to get involved, seems a minor concession.
I have to assume that no-one has been able to persuade a 'mentor' to sign up? I suppose this means I will have to get my rear in gear and see what I can do...

Sounds like a good idea, there's been over 25's posting things before anyway or they got UKYP to post a thread on their behalf with events and things they want to advertise to young people.
Indeed.
Actually, as I'm just starting work on my begging letter, can I just be absolutely clear that the cut-off age is 25, rather than 18 for posting privileges? There seems to be some confusion, especially as the registration process doesn't contain any 'Are you under/over **' proviso, or warn at any point that registrants over a certain age will find themselves unable to post. It was a bit of a surprise for me...
Still, James doesn't want to reply to me. Was he the '1', I wonder..? ;)

Maybe some of this lot could join in, and say what their aspirations for the youth parliament are? Out of the twenty, I'd say five, at a stretch, are 'under 25'...

Still lazing on the begging letter front. I thought I'd started it, but now I can't find it in 'Email waiting to be sent'. Still, at least I'm providing updates on my lack of progress... ;)
Plus, no-one has addressed my uncertainly about that age limit. I wonder if I should (or can?) create a poll, 'Are you between 18 and 25?', to establish where the limit is?

Shouldn't you be getting on with the job and taking the right actions looking forward to lead to the decade of prosperity which, under Conservative policies for the privileged few, might never come to fruition for those hard-working families who know that only the Labour Party can deliver unprecedented growth in standards of living and wealth?

The problem is he can't.
With the Conservatives wide ranging policies, we can bring about change in Britain's political, social and economic future for the better.

And indeed we have. And will continue to do so, for as long as the British electorate ask us. We are the party that introduced vital welfare reforms, we are the party that took Britain through the recession, we have fought for ordinary people, and we will continue to do so.

For change, vote Labour. For a return to the Tory years, of de-regulated markets, of unemployment, of privatisation, of rapidly increasing wealth inequality, of high prices and tax cuts only for the rich, vote Conservative.

We are successfully steering the country through the recession, we are the right party for the job. Conservative policies would bring ruin to the economy. We have protected jobs, we have created new jobs in the Green sector, and we will continue to do so. This is not sh*ite, this is solid Labour policy, this is reality, this is manifest in the country today.
