Help make history - UKYP House of Commons event

On Friday 30 October 2009, elected Members of the UK Youth Parliament (MYPs) will make history when they sit on the green benches in the House of Commons and debate the issues that matter to young people from across the UK.

- But what are those issues?
- What is it that you care so passionately about?
- What do you want to see change?

The UK Youth Parliament needs to know what it is you want to hear debated by young people for young people. This is your opportunity to have your say, set the national political agenda, and make British political history. Every issue that is put forward will be added to a debate list.

Click here to nominate an issue for the debate (http://www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk/hoc/UKYP_Help_Make_History.doc)

The closing date for debate nominations is Sunday 6th September. Please email all nomination forms to hoc@ukyouthparliament.org.uk (hoc@ukyouthparliament.org.uk).

An on-line vote will then be held between Monday 15 and Friday 25 September 2009, to decide which of the issues the MYPs will debate. The five issues with the most votes being the ones that will be selected.

I put forward European Union Reform ... let's have them debating real issues.

(PS - your prescription charge thing is kinda useless as for most constituents it will be free anyway due to being in full time education - living in Wales or not)

I am so very tempted to put forwards 'Is capitalism the best system etcetc'...don't know if they'd accept that one though...

I intend to sit where Dennis Skinner sits (H). Possibly one of the greatest MP's ever.

EDIT: Just looked at his voting record and I take that back. he's better than the majority of them but Wikipedia said he was a proper lefty. He isn't.

At this rate, you will all be arguing and debating over who is sitting where, you won't get round to the other issues :p

and then the sensible ones will wait until your pulling each others eyes out of their sockets before taking the front bench.
