To calm your self down you should have a rest from the forums.

Go out for some fresh air and find your mind.

How do you make yourself feel a bit more confident?
Without becomnig obnoxious.

Austin Sheridan

How do you make yourself feel a bit more confident?
Without becomnig obnoxious.

Recognize your insecurities. What does that voice in the back of your mind say? What makes you ashamed of yourself? This could be anything from acne, to regrets, to emotional abuse (past or present) from a loved one or friends at school. Whatever is making you feel unworthy, ashamed, or inferior, identify it, give it a name, and write it down.
Talk about it with friends and loved ones. Wear it on your sleeve. Each day you should chip away at it; wear it down. There's no quick fix. Get to the root of the problem; focus on it and understand that you need to resolve each issue before you can move on.
Remember that no one is perfect. Even the most confident people have insecurities. At some point in any of our lives, we may feel we lack something. That is reality. Learn that life is full of bumps down the road.
Identify your successes. Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you've declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.
Be thankful for what you have. A lot of the times, at the root of insecurity and lack of confidence is a feeling of not having enough of something, whether it's emotional validation, good luck, money, etc. By acknowledging and appreciating what you do have, you can combat the feeling of being incomplete and unsatisfied. Finding that inner peace will do wonders for your confidence.
Be Positive, even if you don't feel positive. Avoid self-pity, or the pity and sympathy of others. Never allow others to make you feel inferior--they can only do so if you let them. If you continue to loathe and belittle yourself, others are going to do and believe likewise. Instead, speak positively about yourself, about your future, and about your progress. Do not be afraid to project your strengths and qualities to others. By doing so, you reinforce those ideas in your mind and encourage your growth in a positive direction.
Look in the mirror and smile. Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run.

I am gorgeous, huh?Fake it. Along the same lines of smiling to make yourself feel happy, acting confident might actually make you believe it. Pretend you're a completely confident version of you; go through the motions and see how you feel.
Express yourself, whether it's through art, music, writing, etc. Find something you enjoy. Everyone is born with talents and strengths. You can develop and excel in yours. If it's difficult to name two or three things you have some ability in or just plain love to do, think about things others do that you would like to do too and take some lessons or join an enthusiasts club. When you're following your passion, not only will it have a therapeutic effect, but you'll feel unique and accomplished, all of which can help build your self confidence. Plus, adding a variety of interests to your life will not only make you more confident, but it will increase your chances of meeting compatible friends!
Stick to your principles. It might be tough, but if you don't have something you can believe in, you don't have anything. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. No matter what's happened in your life, you can always lay claim to the fact that from this day forward, you've followed your principles to the best of your ability.
Help others. When you know you're kind to the people around you, and are making a positive difference in other people's lives (even if it's just being kinder to the person who serves you coffee in the morning), you'll know that you are a positive force in the world--which will boost your self confidence. Go volunteer twice a month at an elementary school. Bake something for your neighbor for no reason. Confidence that you have earned is the most long-lasting.
Stop worrying. What worries you today will be forgotten by you and people around you tomorrow. Can you remember what you were so worried about the same day the same time last week? If not, then you should not worry right now. You will not worry about it even one week from now.

I hope this helps.

Well, here they are =P

1) Would you rather be ignorant and happy or intellectual, refined and terribly depressed? Depressing question I know...

2) What do you think the political climate in Britian will be like in 15 years?

3) What do you think of career politicians? (Personally I don't believe in them)

I think i would rather be happy as you would lead a very sad life if you were not happy:D

2) What do you think the political climate in Britian will be like in 15 years?

I think Scotland will be Independent but the rest of the UK will stick together in my view.

3) What do you think of career politicians?

I don't think much of them. I don't have time for them.

A certain acquaintance of mine - Alex - has been having a crisis (he's not me, I hasten to add: I'm not quite the charmer Alex is!). He says he wants to split from his long term girlfriend completely but he has a feeling that, even though it hurts now to see her and even though she doesn't always treat him as perhaps she'd wish to be treated, Alex might be better off working at it and sticking with his gal. I suggested he should stay but he's fairly adamant that he wants to leave. Is his lingering doubt justified?

Its up to him. It will hirt Alex and her but if he is sure he wants to leave then you cant stop him. It is hard i know but if thats what he thinks is right then he should stick to it.

I hope this helps.

I think that if he fells he wants to leave its up to him. He may wait as he is unsure if that's what he wants to do. He may change his mind and stay. I hope things work out for the best and i hope Alex and his lassie work things out. Maby he should try talking to her about his problems and how he fells. that may help.

I have lots more connections with the young people of Govan (I go to Govan High) and I feel that I would do a better job there because I understand the problems with the area better and I am involved in local projects in the area like the Community Reference Group (GRG) etc. I also have strong links with the local councillors, MSP & MP in the Govan area.

I;'m not being insulting, I'm smply saying that in my expiernce those who claim to know most know least.

Seccondly many of your ideas do actually back the early ideas of hitler (not the jew killing part) so how is that insult.

Finally, all you do is use very complex language to make yourself seem fancy, surely if you were truely interlectual you would use language that the average erson (and namely you yourself understood) rather than jargon that you bung together to make yourself seem clever.

If you read hitlers early policy about nationalistic strength and way to manage the ecconomy, then Hamster fits this quiet closely, besides its ok for hamster to throw every word in the book around as regards foreigners isn't it.

But everyone, except you, knows that the vast majority of things I say about foreigners are hyperbole and intended for humourous purposes.l
As for the Hitler comment I shall do some research with regards to his economic policies.

Firstly, if I was an average person would I have such a complex vocabulary?
Secondly, I don't use fancy language to try and make myself seem intelligent, I actually talk like this, old bean. I do so because I find using simple language inadequate for precise expression and also because simple language is boring.
Also what else could be inferred from your initial statement, other than that you intended to imply that I knew very little? If your statement was to be taken literally, then by stating that I knew a large amount, I hence would have shown that I knew nothing, thereby you have techincally insulted me. Quod erat demonstrandum.

Finally, all you do is use very complex language to make yourself seem fancy, surely if you were truely interlectual you would use language that the average erson (and namely you yourself understood) rather than jargon that you bung together to make yourself seem clever.

Jargon? Surely the more apropos term would be "logorrhea".

1. I have seen the other posts, frankly I'm disgusted to any of my posts on the same thread as yours.

2. Swearing at me does very little, except prove to the board of your incompetance, but frankly you do that well on your own.

3. 'Post counting' You have over 3,000 posts and I would wager less than a third of them are actual decent arguements, the rest is mindless squallor to beat a person at posting. You live in Scotland, Hamsterwaffle lives nowhere near you, beating someone over the internet? kinda pathetic.

4. 'I agree' not even MPs do it as often as you do, it is fair enough to agree with someone's point, but Jesus Austin tone it down! again!

5. No-one asked me, but it still doesn't mean I'm very close to reporting you and others to an admin! if you want to bitch, do it off the forums. Also, for childish games, keep it to just for fun. This is a forum based for UKYP members and people who happen across it and are interested in politics. Your shambolic display doesn't give this forum a good image.

6. One single ****y reply and I will report you. One more "**** off Marcus" and I will be informing an admin.

The true skill of th escholar is to be understood by the porper. Simple language is a simple of the diversity of our nation.

Knowing a lot or nothing is equal and therefore one can not be insult to the other, if I call and intelligent peroson stupid or a stupid person intelligent, there is no insult as both are merely points of view, and bith are direct results of the attacment of certain stigmas.

The true skill of th escholar is to be understood by the porper. Simple language is a simple of the diversity of our nation.

Using simple language serves no benefit to me, I prefer to speak in a complex manner and hence I do so. If I were trying to get elected or inspire a crowd, then I may use simple language (with many chantable slogans as well as black and white choices) but I'm not.

Simple language is a symbol of the diversity of our nation.

I thought it was the fact there are over 300 languages spoken in London, not that everyone speaks in simple, monosylables... I like it how you have made it so that Hamster, by speaking for full breadth of the Dictionary is somehow attacking diversity (in some obviously symbolic way)

He wouldn't be if it wasn't for the fact that he is doing it becuase he is against "commoners", but surely commoner is only a person who is more likely to occur than the next and therefore the oppinion, or worth put on fancy language/interlect is more inportant that that of the greatest interlectual.

For UKYP the max age you can run is 18 as UKYP MYPs are aged between 11 - 18
For SYP the max age is 25 as SYP MSYPs are aged between 14 - 15

I hope this has been of help.
