Measles fears prompt MMR campaign

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7545151.stm

The government has launched a campaign to raise MMR vaccination rates in England amid growing concerns about a measles epidemic.

The Department of Health has asked primary care trusts (PCTs) to offer the jab to all children up to the age of 18 not already fully protected.

Thoughts and opinions please.....

I think they already offered it but lots of people turned it down over fears that the MMR jab was linked to something bad. So now cases of measles and the like have jumped hugely because we dont have enough people immunised to get "herd immunity" (mainly in middle class London areas where the problem is). Now they are offering it again seeing as the claims of risk have been found to be false and the resistance to immunization is causing a danger (especially to those under the immunisation age) - so now we are trying to run a catch up on those who refused to be immunised first time round.

Thanks. It's much more clear to me now. I've already been immunised so I'm ok. Lol

Oh so now we might have the possibilty of Measles, everyone is going to be the MMRs best friend?

As opposed to slating it and blaming it for causing Autism (sp?) in youg children, as the British public have been doing for several years...
