There is inadequate amounts of forum moderation taking place on every thread and topic
I will not state examples, just making it clear that this issue needs to be addressed and the rules and MYP Code of Conduct & Terms of Reference are adhered to.

The freedom on these forums is one of the reasons I use it. It's clean yet liberal. Moderators, you're doing a fabulous job!!

There's no need to give specific examples but if you mentioned the problems it'd help.
People posting links or having conversations or is it something else?
I think the site's fine as it is at the moment, too much moderating would just be intrusive.

Amen to that.

There are hardly any MYPs or MSYPs who regularly post on here - the MYP code of conduct is not relevant to the majority ... and how would you know if an MYP signed up under an alias to talk about party political matters such as their dislike for Clegg/Cameron/Brown etc.

I love this site and I would not want it changed.
I'm allowed to express my opinion and be free.
DO NOT CHANGE UKYP!!!!

Amen to that (too); the creator of this thread is FAR too zealous if they think this forum isn't moderated appropriately.

I have the strangest idea I know what you're thinking when you say MYP Code of Conduct.
UKYP shouldn't even think about being changed. Its a young people friendly place, and about 99.9% of the threads have arguments! The only ones that don't are the hamsterwaffle appreciation ones. Its great and i love it as it i (:

Surely not.
The forums are fine most people on here are mature enough to behave them selves with out any moderation.

But moderation in what?
Moderation in how much a person contributes, the amount of threads and topics?
What?
RobClews

No, Moderation for the Content of the Threads and not the amounts or the topics. We can openly talk about anything, and I appreciate the Liberalness of the board.
Nothing is stopping a MYP registering under an Alias, though they should accept that they have a responsibility and they should maintain it.
I know there is moderation though sometimes you feel as if on occasions some frankly abusive or offensive comments will go unnoticed as "they do not break forum rules"...
I'll post on the next opportunity with relevant evidence..can't be bothered to look.
I probably am being over zealous.

I don't see why an MYP can't go into party political matters as long as it isn't in their role as MYP?
RobClews

Because it's still breaking the rules?
Your responsibility as an MYP is to have a non-party political view. As a candidate for becoming an MYP, the rules still apply - you should not campaign for a political party.
Im not saying you cant get involved in party political matters.

That sucks. MYPs should form parties just like real politicians.

I think that would be a good idea actually.

BYC Allow you to have a political view, aslong as it doesn't reflect BYC itself. Maybe we should advance ourselves in that sense?

Maybe you make references to the more over-zealous topics. Oh splendid, that's a brilliant job, get a little bit passionate so censor it.
It's fine the way it is thanks, clean but just.

I think almost everyone on here has a political view, theres nothing wrong with it.

If someone is elected MYP they are not MYP 24/7, they are only MYPs when on YP business, at times other than that they are people, and they are allowed to hold and express political views in their own name, so long as they don't put the Youth Parliament behind it.
If these forums became actively moderated I would almost certainly cease posting, to the delight of some and dismay of others I'm sure.

I totally agree. We're all individuals here.

As far as I'm aware, BYC isn't a charity - UKYP is.
Charities arn't allowe political views in any way, shape or form

what about all the political think tanks? they are charities...

Political think tanks are rarely party political.
Furthermore, imagine that UKYP became a pro labour youth parliament (not a million miles away from possible if party views were allowed) and a conservative government won the GE - how likely would we be to get funding?
Thinking about representing the voice of young people, it makes sense to stay neutral so we can attract funding.
Furthermore, we aren't here to toe any party line; we're here to fight the corner for young people's rights without holding back. Introducing political parties to UKYP is not only unecessary, it is irresponsible and ignorant.
Not a fan of the idea, BTW.
You've got the wrong end of the stick so far as I'm aware... What I was personally supporting was the idea that MYPs are allowed to have their own political views and can personally support a party, so long as they don't whilst representing UKYP, when they're on UKYP business they're MYPs, when on party business they're chair of X's Young Liberals etc.

I wasn't talking to you you irritating little man. Everything you had said was blatantly obvious and is already the status quo; I was addressing some rather less enlightened comments from coruscant and the voice.
honestly... some people :P
Haha, point taken... *gulp*

I meant that too.
So what if its a charity? It still doesnt have a view even if its members do.

think the way it works is teh UKYP can't have any particulair leanigns to political parties because oit will still be wanting a say when we become tory in the neear future and when we then move to whichever slightly less right party comes into power after that. I think as an MYP you can't do anything to support one particular group but you can in general as long as you aren't using the UKYP name in conjunction.
